Letterform - In this project, each student was given one letter from the phrase below. I received a "T" and then came up with my interpretation of the phrase. This interpretation became the concept for how I would design my "T" letterform. In the end, I felt the idea of a scrapbook would be able to convey this message the best.

Concept - "I show up but I am not there"

This statement discusses how loved ones, who have passed on, continue to show up in your memories even though they are no longer truly "there" anymore. This concept begins to discuss how death can make certain people's memories stronger or more vivid; how loved one's memories can become guiding forces in your life. It speaks to how even death can't take away their influence and guidance; how those lessons learned create a lingering shadow or imprint in our memories that we carry with us through our lives.

Shadows - Scrapbook transforms into a Lightbox to reveal shadows of those who have passed on

A very big part of the concept for this project was that people after they pass away leave shadows of themselves in the lives of the living. There shadow is there when you think about something they taught you, something you did together or something you shared. In order to portray this graphically, I made the scrapbook into a lightbox so that the literal "shadow" of those who have passed on could be superimposed on to the scrapbook photos.

Walkabout - This was an image gathering project where we found inspiring Environmental Graphic Design either locally or on the internet.
